MPORTANT: This 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe NO LONGER HAS ITS ORIGINAL TURBO ENGINE. It has been converted to a 460ci Ford V8 and is now a purpose-built, street-legal drag car.
This 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe has been transformed from its original turbocharged setup into a serious street-and-strip machine powered by a built 460ci Ford V8. With extensive engine work, a rebuilt C6 automatic transmission, and a spooled Ford 9-inch rear end, this Thunderbird is built with one thing in mind going fast.
The 460ci V8 features a block bored .030 over, cast crank cut 10/10, forged pistons, Eagle H-Beam steel rods, Manley high-volume oil pump, oversized Teflon-tipped valves, ARP fasteners throughout, Ford Cobra Jet aluminum heads, double valve springs, and more. Fuel and airflow are handled by a Holley 4500 Dominator carburetor, completing a serious big-block combination designed for the strip.
The drivetrain is backed by a rebuilt Ford C6 automatic transmission and a spooled Ford 9-inch rear end, giving this Thunderbird the heavy-duty drivetrain components needed to put the power to the pavement. A roll cage adds additional safety and reinforces the purpose-built nature of this car.
Despite its strip-focused setup, this Thunderbird remains street legal, giving you the opportunity to drive it to the track rather than trailer it.
